My background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Brown University (Magna Cum Laude) where I graduated as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. I went onto receive a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University where I trained at the esteemed Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship in Mount Sinai’s Department of Psychiatry , and have been on the faculty at the Icahn School Mount Sinai as a Clinical Instructor since 2008. My past experiences include working at the Hallowell Center in NYC (an epicenter for the treatment of ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders) from 2012 - 2021 and I served as their Director of Clinical Training for several years. I am a member of the New York Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association (NY-CBT) and Postpartum Support International (PSI).
In addition to my clinical experience, my strengths include teaching, supervision and research. I greatly enjoy supervising psychiatry residents and psychology graduate students learning how to implement CBT and other evidence-based therapies. I provide weekly clinical supervision for trainees at the NYU Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Additionally, I have served as a clinician for grant-funded treatment studies and I have published several papers in peer-review journals. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to provide special lectures, and I enjoy speaking occasionally at hospitals and clinics about a variety of topics related to empirically supported therapies across the age spectrum. More recently, I have been writing about various topics in psychology and have been interviewed in blogs and podcasts across several different platforms. I especially enjoy contributing comments about mental health to Women's Health Magazine and Shape Magazine. You can see my work below and/or follow me on Instagram @drterribacow.
Please be on the lookout for my book for teens and young adults titled Goodbye Anxiety that is coming out in September 2021 and will be published by Spruce Books, an imprint of Sasquatch Books/a Penguin Random House company!
