BIO
My background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Brown University (Magna Cum Laude) where I graduated as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. I went onto receive a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University where I trained at the esteemed Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship in Mount Sinai’s Department of Psychiatry , and have been on the faculty at the Icahn School Mount Sinai as a Clinical Instructor since 2008. My past experiences also include working at the Hallowell Center in NYC (an epicenter for the treatment of ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders) ; I served as their Director of Clinical Training from 2012-2021. I am a member of the New York Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association (NY-CBT), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) and Postpartum Support International (PSI).
In addition to my clinical experience, my strengths include teaching, supervision and research. I greatly enjoy supervising psychiatry residents and psychology graduate students learning how to implement CBT and other evidence-based therapies. I provide weekly clinical supervision for trainees at the NYU Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I am a consultant for the New York Anxiety Treatment Center, where I supervise trainees on a part-time basis. Additionally, I have served as a clinician for grant-funded treatment studies and I have published several papers in peer-review journals. I am also a coach for Robin, a community that connects coaches to students and educators interested in learning more about social emotional wellness.
These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to provide special lectures, and I enjoy speaking occasionally at hospitals and clinics about a variety of topics related to psychology. For example, I have been interviewed in blogs and podcasts across several different platforms. I especially enjoy contributing comments about mental health to Women's Health Magazine and Shape Magazine as well as Scary Mommy. You can see my work below and/or follow me on Instagram @drterribacow.
I am especially proud of my NEW book for tweens, teens and young adults (and their parents!) titled Goodbye Anxiety: A Guided Journal for Overcoming Worry that is published by Spruce Books, an imprint of Sasquatch Books/a Penguin Random House company.
